The Innovation Office is the University of Basel's central hub for entrepreneurship and innovation. We are driven by the desire to address complex global challenges and contribute to sustainable solutions by connecting academia, startups, industry, and society. Our mission is to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset and help individuals and teams develop essential competencies for success in entrepreneurship, academia, or industry. Through our diverse programs, we provide opportunities to grow, innovate, and make a meaningful impact.

Whether you are a student with a bright idea or a seasoned professor with plans of founding a groundbreaking start-up, the Innovation Office has many ways in which it can support and guide you into the right direction. If you want to translate your science, technology or know-how towards impact, but are not sure whether a start-up is the right way to do it, we can also help you to define next steps.

Our offerings

Personalized guidance, entrepreneurship training, and incubation programs. Whether you're a student with an idea or a professor looking to launch a startup, we can help you move forward.

Educational Programs: They integrate entrepreneurial skills into your academic journey, regardless of your field of study or career aspirations. Whether you have a business idea or not, our courses provide valuable tools and knowledge for excelling in any career or starting your own venture.

  • Entrepreneurship Training (supported by Innosuisse): Tailored for PhDs, PostDocs, and staff (supported by Innosuisse).
  • Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship (3 ECTS): Designed for Bachelor’s and Master’s students.

Startup Programs

In addition to educational courses, we support startup ventures through our incubation and acceleration programs. These initiatives help entrepreneurs refine their ideas, scale their businesses, and connect with industry leaders. Our programs are designed to nurture innovative concepts and turn them into successful ventures.
