Latinistik

Latin Studies in Basel deals with the Latin language and literature in its entire breadth - from the earliest Latin texts of antiquity to the Latin-language literature of the Renaissance and early modern period, from the great works of literature to inscriptions and texts of usage. In cooperation with the broad field of literary and cultural studies, Latin Studies is dedicated to the fundamental question of how the relationship between man and his environment is articulated in language, and thus offers a unique approach to the cultures of the past.
