Musicology in Basel is characterized by the two focal points in older and more recent music history. In a range of courses supplemented by teaching assignments, music history is thus covered in its entire breadth: from the beginnings of the written record in the 9th century to the present in its contemporary art music to pop, from theoretical-musical analytical approaches to cultural studies approaches.
