The 2nd International Conference on the Ethics of Engineering Life (ICEEL) will focus on the ethical dimensions of engineering molecular and cellular systems, examining the urgent challenges that emerge from these rapidly advancing fields.
To address the complex ethical landscape of engineering living systems, ICEEL convenes a diverse array of stakeholders—including researchers and developers, ethicists, philosophers, religious leaders, science communicators, artists, and other key voices from our global society. Together, we aim to facilitate a comprehensive discussion on the ethical implications, societal impacts, and moral considerations inherent to this evolving area of science.

Conference Co-Organizers
ICEEL is jointly organized by the National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Molecular Systems Engineering, University of Basel and ETH Zurich, Switzerland; the Pontifical Academy for Life, Vatican City; and Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital, Italy. Our goal is to foster a meaningful, informed exchange on both the scientific advancements in molecular and cellular engineering for clinical applications and the associated ethical considerations in "engineering life."
