Künstliche Intelligenz ist längst nicht mehr nur Science Fiction, sondern ein fester Bestandteil unserer Welt. Von selbstfahrenden Autos über personalisierte Empfehlungen auf Streaming-Plattformen bis hin zu automatisierten Steuerveranlagungen – KI ist überall präsent und hat in den letzten Jahren einen enormen Aufschwung erlebt.
KI bietet sowohl Chancen als auch Herausforderungen. Aus rechtlicher Sicht stellt sich hier die Frage: Wie navigieren wir zwischen Innovation und Regulierung? In unserer Tour d'Horizon beleuchten wir die Rechtsetzungsprojekte auf internationaler, nationaler und lokaler Ebene – von der EU über den Europarat bis hin zu Bund und Kantonen.
Wie sehen die Gesetze und Regulierungen in diesem Bereich aus und welchen Einfluss haben sie auf die Entwicklung und den Einsatz von KI? Wer setzt auf Innovation, wer auf Regulierung? Wer schafft es, beide Ziele miteinander zu vereinen? An diesem Themenabend werden wir diese Fragen aufgreifen und gemeinsam über die Gratwanderung zwischen Innovation und Regulierung diskutieren.

e-PIAF ist eine Forschungsstelle der Juristischen Fakultät, die sich grundlegenden theoretischen und praxisrelevanten Fragen im Zusammenhang mit der Digitalisierung in Staat und Verwaltung widmet.

Vortrag von Prof. Dr. Andreas Urs Sommer (Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg) mit Lesung von Philipp Langenegger (Schauspieler) im Rahmen der Vortragsreihe «Akademische Freundschaften» des Frey-Grynaeischen Instituts in Basel.
Die Abende sind akademisch fundiert und wollen eine breite, interessierte Öffentlichkeit ansprechen. Zentrales Element der Veranstaltungen sind Lesungen zwischen den anderen Wortbeiträgen.

Das Frey-Grynaeische Institut:
1747 gründet der Basler Theologieprofessor Johann Ludwig Frey (1682 –1759) zur Erinnerung an seinen Freund und Kollegen Johannes Grynaeus (1705 –1744) eine Stiftung: das Frey-Grynaeische Institut. Bis heute pflegt das Frey-Grynaeische Institut, als älteste eingetragene Stiftung der Stadt Basel, am Heuberg 33 dieses Erbe und entwickelt es weiter. Kernbestand ist die Bibliothek mit etwa 13 000 Büchern, von den
Anfängen der Buchdruckkunst bis ins 19. Jahrhundert. Die wertvollsten Werke werden in der Universitätsbibliothek Basel aufbewahrt (Signaturen «Frey-Gryn xxx»). In der Bibliothek wird gearbeitet und geforscht. Auf Anmeldung kann diese besucht und auch besichtigt werden.
Das Frey-Grynaeische Institut steht in der Tradition einer Gelehrtenfreundschaft und versteht sich als Zentrum für die Vielfalt öffentlicher Theologie, den ethischen Austausch und die Pflege der Alten Sprachen. Die Stiftung fördert dies u. a. mit Publikationen, Gesprächen, Vorträgen und Symposien.
