Prof. Dr. Thomas Grob
Thomas Grob has been Professor of Slavic and General Literature Studies at the University of Basel since 2009. From August 2016 until July 2017, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. As Vice President for Education he is, among other things, responsible for teaching development, the Student Services, educational technologies, academic teaching, the Language Center and postgraduate continuing education.
Thomas Grob was born in 1961 in Olten, he studied German studies, Russian studies and philosophy at the University of Zurich where obtained his doctorate in Slavic studies in 1993. In 2003, he habilitated at the University of Konstanz. Before he followed a call to Basel in 2009, he completed guest professorships in Austria and Switzerland. In addition to his academic work, he has been involved in various boards and committees at the University of Basel.
