Mobility Grants
The University of Basel and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) are committed to promoting junior scholars and provide funding for this purpose. Contributions may be made to living expenses, a lump sum to travel expenses, and for conference costs.

Doc.Mobility@unibas grants are aimed at doctoral students who wish to improve their scientific profile at a research institute abroad. The grants are awarded in all disciplines.

Matriculation as a doctoral student for at least 12 months and not already funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). - Duration

SNSF Postdoc.Mobility
SNSF Postdoc.Mobility fellowships are aimed at researchers who are willing to pursue an academic career in Switzerland. The research stay abroad serves to deepen the knowledge, increase the scientific independence and sharpen the scientific profile.
Fellowship holders can also apply for a return contribution to finance the first research period immediately after their return to Switzerland. Scholarships are awarded in all disciplines. SNSF Postdoc.Mobility fellowships are awarded in all disciplines.
- Requirements
Submission at the earliest 9 months before obtaining the PhD and up to 3 years afterwards (for physicians without MD-PhD: up to 8 years after the state examination and with at least 3 years of clinical experience after the state examination)
Swiss nationality, holder of valid Swiss permanent residence or cross-border commuter permit, married to a Swiss national or co-habiting with a Swiss national in a registered partnership.
For foreign nationals: at least 2 years of research activity in Switzerland - Duration
The funding period is in principle 24 months (fellowship) and 3 to 12 months (return phase). - Start
