The Graduate Center creates optimal conditions for successful (post)doctoral studies. It contributes to the development of functioning structures in the field of doctoral studies at the University of Basel that are in line with the university’s mission statement and strategy as well as its quality standards and demand for competitiveness. GRACE promotes interdisciplinary exchange and prepares researchers for future challenges inside and outside of academia. In addition to offering various training formats and organizing networking events, GRACE is a contact and service point for concerns regarding all aspects of (post)doctoral studies.

8th Global Science Film Festival
The 8th Global Science Film Festival is taking place on October 22-24, 2026 in Basel, Bern and Zurich. The Global Science Film Festival is also a platform for numerous marathons and workshops, such as the Science Filmmaking Marathon taking place on June 25-27, 2026 in Zurich. Doctoral candidates and postdocs from the University of Basel have the opportunity to register for it via the Transferable Skills program by May 28.
diss:kurs 2026
diss:kurs is an event where doctoral candidates and postdocs of the University of Basel present their research project to a wider public. The next diss:kurs will take place on May 7, 2026, 5:00 pm at Tabourettli (Spalenberg 12, 4051 Basel). The presentations are followed by an apéro riche. Cross-Border Education Grant 2026: Call
The Cross-Border Education Grant of the University of Basel supports innovative bi- and multinational courses at the master’s and doctoral levels within Eucor – The European Campus. Lecturers at the University of Basel, including PhD candidates and postdocs, may apply together with colleagues from the Eucor partner universities. The call will be published on the webpage Cross-Border Education Grant on March 2, 2026. The application window will be open from March 2 to April 17, 2026.
Information Event for New PhD Candidates and Postdocs
On September 25 from 12 to 1:30 p.m., the Information Event for new PhD candidates and Postdocs was held online. Together with all central services of the university, GRACE provided new PhD candidates and postdocs with important information for their time here in Basel – from Career Advancement to Transferable Skills.
