Öffentliche Vorlesung von Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Safranski, Literaturwissenschaftler, Philosoph und Schriftsteller, im Rahmen der 60. Aeneas-Silvius-Vorlesung an der Universität Basel
Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Safranski war u.a. Herausgeber und Redakteur der Kulturzeitschrift «Berliner Hefte» ( bis 1982 ). Seit 1986 arbeitet er als freier Schriftsteller. Er lebt in Berlin und Badenweiler. Von 2002 bis 2012 war er zusammen mit Peter Sloterdijk Gastgeber des «Philosophischen Quartetts» im deutschen Fernsehen. Rüdiger Safranski ist Honorarprofessor für Philosophie an der FU Berlin, Mitglied des PEN und der Deutschen Akademie für Sprache und Dichtung und erhielt zahlreiche Auszeichnungen, zuletzt den Thomas-Mann-Preis, den Ludwig Börne-Preis, den Deutschen Nationalpreis und den Internationalen Hermann Hesse-Preis. Seine in 26 Sprachen übersetzten Veröffentlichungen umfassen u.a. «Zeit – was sie mit uns macht und was wir aus ihr machen» ( Herbst 2015 ), «Hölderlin. Komm ins Offene, Freund!» (2019), «Einzeln Sein. Eine philosophische Herausforderung» (2021), «Kafka. Um
sein Leben schreiben» (2024).

Im Anschluss an die Vorlesung besteht bei einem Apéro im Wildt’schen Haus am Petersplatz die Möglichkeit zur weiteren Diskussion über das Thema. Vorschau 2025: Neuer Zyklus «Mehr als Intelligenz» - Grenzen der Künstlichen Intelligenz aus heutiger Sicht. Ein interdisziplinärer Versuch.
Pate für den neuen zweijährigen Zyklus ist ein Dostojewski-Zitat. In «Schuld und Sühne» sagt Raskonikow (III,3): «Er ist ein kluger Mensch, aber um klug vorzugehen, dazu ist Verstand allein zu wenig». Gelegentlich wird der zweite Teil des Satzes auch übersetzt mit: «Es braucht mehr als Intelligenz, um intelligent zu handeln». Daraus haben wir den Titel des gesamten Zyklus abgeleitet: «Mehr als Intelligenz».
