Vortrag im Rahmen der Auftaktveranstaltung des Forums Basiliense
Mit dem Forum Basiliense eröffnet die Universität Basel eine Plattform für den interdisziplinären Dialog. An der Auftaktveranstaltung wird die in Albanien geborenen Politologin und Autorin Lea Ypi über «Progress, freedom and social critique» sprechen.
Lea Ypi ist Professorin für politische Theorie am Government Department der London School of Economics and Political Science. Sie befasst sich unter anderem mit Fragen der Demokratie, mit Rechtstheorie, Migration und den politischen Ideen der Aufklärung. In ihrem international gefeierten Bestseller «Frei. Erwachsenwerden am Ende der Geschichte» (2021) beschreibt sie eindrücklich die alles durchdringende Diktatur Albaniens während ihrer Kindheit und den biografischen Einschnitt des sich radikal ändernden politischen Systems nach 1989.

Das Forum Basiliense – Plattform für interdisziplinären Dialog
Als Reaktion auf die beschleunigten gesellschaftlichen Veränderungen in der Welt hat die Universität Basel eine neue Plattform für Forschung und Dialog auf interdisziplinärer Ebene gegründet: das Forum Basiliense.
Das Forum fördert den Austausch und die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Geistes, Sozial- und Naturwissenschaften und bietet Raum, um aktuelle, politisch, ökonomisch und gesellschaftlich relevante Fragestellungen im Rahmen interdisziplinärer Projekte zu behandeln. Die Frage der «Freiheit» steht in der Anfangsphase unseres Forums im Mittelpunkt und bildet den intellektuellen Fokus für unsere erste Gruppe internationaler Fellows.
