Open-Access
With its OA-Policies the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Swiss higher education institutions, including the University of Basel, strongly support the idea of Open Access: Research findings funded with public money belong to the public. Both, the SNSF and the University of Basel offer grants to cover the costs for open access publications:
The SNSF offers funding for Gold Open Access journal articles for SNSF funded research. In addition, the SNSF covers costs for peer-reviewed monographs (including dissertations, habilitations, legal commentaries and editions) and anthologies as well as book chapters. For Green Open Access, the additional publication of a reviewed article manuscript is expected to be available on an institutional repository like edoc after six months, books are expected to be available after 12 months.
Since 2020, the Open Access Publication Fund of the University of Basel additionally offers funding for Gold Open Access publications that cannot be covered by third-party funding. All members of the University who are main or corresponding authors can apply for cost coverage of up to CHF 2.500.
With regard to Green Open Access, the University Library is happy to help you to make your publications available on edoc.
