Parasites, infectious diseases, foreign countries and cultures – this is one facet of the work at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH). At the same time, experts at Swiss TPH are also investigating how air pollution, noise or increasing mobility affect the health of people living in Switzerland. The common goal: Improving the health of people locally, nationally and internationally.
After a short introduction into the activities of Swiss TPH, the participants will learn how health care systems can be strengthened, how the population's access to good health services can be improved and what role mathematical modeling plays in the fight against malaria. Following the tour, all participants are invited to a small reception where there will be time and space for further questions.
Get to know your University
Numerous departments, museums and institutions are gathered under the roof of the University of Basel and cover a wide range of subjects. Further institutions are either associated with the university or stand in close contact with it otherwise. The event series «Uni-Ein-Blicke» wants to give students and employees further insight into these institutions in order to better get to know the university, its partners and subjects.
