The Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police carried out identity checks on 20 people in front of the building and banned them from the premises. However, no people were found inside the buildings. The University of Basel is now evaluating legal steps.
The University of Basel would like to express its gratitude to the Cantonal Police of Basel-Stadt and the Police Concordat of Northwestern Switzerland for their efforts in ending the unlawful occupation of the property.
The properties at Petersgraben 27 and 29 are currently being assessed for damage. The buildings are expected to be accessible again with access control starting Wednesday.
The university management will not tolerate occupations or disruptions to examination, teaching and research activities and will take decisive action against further illegal activities.
