Public lecture by Prof. Omri Boehm, PhD, followed by a discussion
The Israeli-German philosopher Omri Boehm, Associate Professor of Philosophy at the New School for Social Research in New York, will give this year's Forum Basiliense Lecture.
Omri Boehm, born in 1979, is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Philosophy Department at the New School for Social Research in New York. The German-Israeli citizen studied at Tel Aviv University, among others, and completed his doctorate in philosophy at Yale University in 2009 on Kant's critique of Spinoza.
As an author and essayist, he writes about Israel, politics and philosophy for Haaretz, Die Zeit and The New York Times, among others. For his book Radikaler Universalismus: Jenseits von Identität, he received the Leipzig Book Prize for European Understanding in 2024.
Following the lecture, Omri Boehm will be joined on stage by cultural scholar and author Elisabeth Bronfen, writer Jonas Lüscher and literary scholar Alexander Honold for a discussion.

The Forum Basiliense – platform for interdisciplinary dialogue
In response to the accelerated social changes in the world, the University of Basel has founded the Forum Basiliense, a platform for research and dialogue at an interdisciplinary level. The Forum Basiliense was opened last year with a lecture by political scientist Lea Ypi and organises an annual Forum Basiliense Lecture. This year's lecture is being held in collaboration with the Literaturhaus Basel and the Theater Basel.
