Botond Roska, Professor an der Universität Basel und Direktor am Institut für Molekulare und Klinische Ophthalmologie Basel (IOB), wurde von der Gertrud Reemtsma Stiftung mit dem International Prize for Translational Neuroscience ausgezeichnet. Er erhält den Preis zusammen mit Professor José-Alain Sahel, der dem wissenschaftlichen Beirat des IOB vorsteht.
Prof. Dr. Christoph Gerber vom Departement Physik der Universität Basel und vom Swiss Nanoscience Institute erhält den Albert Einstein World Award of Science 2023. Der World Cultural Council verleiht Gerber den Preis in Anerkennung des grundlegenden Charakters und der breiten Anwendbarkeit seiner Forschung im Bereich der Nanowissenschaften.
Prof. Dr. Lorenza Mondada, Professorin für Französische und Allgemeine Linguistik an der Universität Basel, hat in Anerkennung ihrer wissenschaftlichen Arbeit die Ehrendoktorwürde der Universität Helsinki erhalten.
Im Rahmen einer feierlichen Zeremonie wurde die Rektorin der Universität Basel, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Andrea Schenker-Wicki, Anfang April in Bangladesch mit der Ehrendoktorwürde der Asian University for Women (AUW) ausgezeichnet.
