The Faculty of Business and Economics cordially invites you to the public inaugural lecture of Prof. Dr. Dominik Meier, assistant professor of global philanthropy.
Philanthropy, encompassing both individual generosity and institutional initiatives, serves as a cornerstone in addressing societal challenges worldwide. In this inaugural lecture, Dominik Meier will first provide an overview of philanthropy’s foundational concepts and then demonstrate how recent developments in technologies like large language models (LLMs) are transforming the field.
These advances enable the mining, synthesis, and interpretation of complex, global data on philanthropic flows and initiatives. Dominik will illustrate the potential of these methods with examples such as mapping philanthropic initiatives to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and analyzing the dynamics of online giving. Ultimately, this lecture argues that integrating AI-driven insights into philanthropy is essential for understanding its global evolution and enhancing its strategic impact.
